Which stores sell the pink slime in foods??

Who sells meat with pink slime? Here’s the list

Which is which? The hamburger made from ground beef containing what is derisively referred to as “pink slime,” or what the meat industry calls “lean, finely textured beef,” is on the right. The other one is pure 85% lean ground beef. (AP Photo/Jim Cole)

You’ve heard about the “pink slime,” right? It’s that meat filler made from slaughterhouse scraps that is treated with ammonia. (Yum!) Last week the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced plans to buy 7 million pounds of it. A federal microbiologist nicknamed the filler “pink slime.”

The Daily, the iPad newspaper from News Corp., has figured out which stores sell ground meat that contains pink slime.

According to The Daily, these are among the stores that say they do not sell meat with pink slime:

  • Safeway
  • A&P
  • Whole Foods
  • Costco
  • Publix
  • H-E-B
  • Waldbaum’s
  • Price Chopper

These are among the stores that do not sell pink slime in store-ground meat, but sell pre-packaged ground beef from suppliers that may contain pink slime:

  • Jewel-Osco
  • Kroger
  • Food Lion
  • Winco
  • Fred Meyer

These are among the stores that sell store-ground meat with pink slime, according to The Daily:

  • Target
  • BJ’s
  • Hy-Vee
  • Safeway
  • Walmart
  • Albertsons
  • Stop & Shop
  • Zaycon Foods

School districts nationwide will be able to opt out of serving “pink slime,” after the USDA announced March 15 that beginning next fall, schools involved in the national school lunch program will have the option of avoiding the product.

Obviously your blog name is correct. You do know squat. Ground beef trimmings are ground beef trimmings, not “filler” and not “slime”. It’s not bad for you. In fact, the product is made safer by the way it is processed, using a puff of ammonium hydroxide to increase the PH of the meat and kill the naturally occurring pathogens. In fact much of the food produced today uses or naturally contains ammonium hydroxide. There’s more of it in your condiments, cheese and buns than there is in your burger. Soda, cheese, chocolate, gelatin are processed using it. Telling people not to eat it is ignorant and sets back innovative food safety 30 years. It’s just as nutritious as any ground beef product, whether processed as LFTB or simply ground. In fact, it’s leaner, and when mixed with fattier “simply ground” beef produces an overall leaner meat, which is better for us. And it’s less expensive than advocating “organic” meats, which most people cannot afford and are not inherently safe. Check your facts. The stores bowing to ignorant consumer “demand” are more concerned for image apparently than they are with food safety. Shame on all of them for caving and not standing up for safety by defending the use of this good product. The average consumer should be praising this company and their safe production methods instead of propagating hysteria and lies.

Regardless of whether it’s good or bad, I’m sure she didn’t have to be attacked/insulted for posting this. It’s one thing to assert an opinion, but another to attack the author. (At least, that’s what it sounds like to me. I apologize if I had misinterpreted your intentions.)

Go ahead.. Continue on your processed food rant some more. You must not live a healthy lifestyle if you’re validating the shit you’re putting into your mouth, which IS filler!!!!
Usda allows Some crazy shit to go down and Youre all for it????
You think people care what you put into your body? Obviously not, and clearly nor do you..
      But to each their own..

      Bon appetite kid.

On another note, I think it’s hilarious how ridiculous you sound.. It makes a leaner meat because its mixed with some BULLSHIT chemicals? I am keeping your comment instead of deleting it so people can see just how IGNORANT people can be.. I go to school and teach naive people like you about health/nutrition for a living and you’re the EXACT reason why.

But nice job validating your sucky eating habits.
