Project Clean Up!

I finally decided to sit down and write. I don’t know what I am going to write, but I have a crap ton of photos, that will help in describing my life in the last couple of weeks.

Things have been hectic to say the least.. Studying for NASM, going through transitions at work and at home, and just trying to stay on the road I think is best. Its been hard, and I am not afraid or ashamed to say, that even though hesitant at first, I think its best if I talk to someone professionally. I have too many outside biased opinions that I feel cloud my mind at times. I want to sit down and explain myself and figure out if I really am crazy.. Okay a little dramatic, but I do feel it sometimes.

The one thing that is getting me by, is the group of friends I’ve previously mentioned. Having such a tight-knit group is something I can’t explain. I guess I have never experienced this kind of true friendship. Its awesome.. that’s just put it that way.. Not to forget that I have learned SO much.. more than I have in the last 4 years trying to get by on my own. 6 months with these people and I feel like a new and improved person. They make me feel good.. at all times.. I think that’s so important during the stressful times of contest prep, or just simply living the life of someone who works at a gym.. someone who takes it seriously (yes I have to put a disclaimer.. I see your sales guys eating McDonald’s over there)… such a shame.

Any who.. enough lovey dovey shit.. I have been eating like crap for the last week. Burgers.. upon burgers.. ice cream, frozen yogurt, McDonald’s.. You name it, I probably had it. This is a great way to start loading pictures, dont cha think ;P

10oz ribeye @outback. SOOOOOOOOO good. you have the option for grilled or pan with seasoned. I asked for it to be seasoned but grilled and it could not have been better. Funny story or not story but fact, this but his steak and an appetizer cost the same as when we go to Buffalo Wild Wings. Isnt that nuts?!

So, as you may know I am an avid believer in eating clean. However, I don’t know exactly what went on here. I didn’t calorie count or track anything (besides the pictures), but you can tell I wasn’t shy about those calories consumed. I enjoyed every last bite of every meal I ate in the last week. That I get, but what confuses me is that I didn’t change my work out regimen  to adapt to the significantly higher calories in my diet, but I still maintained if not IMPROVED my physique. Yes I am not stage lean-to ANY extent, but I feel like I have actually never looked better. Maybe they really were magic cookies…

Haha inside joke.. I have started a cookie binge and it’s catching on like a virus! I swear they’re not magic! This is not a trend, do NOT follow! haha… I think my body was just going crazy and even it didn’t know what to do with itself..BUT today, I have started from scratch. Chicken and veggies for meeeeeeeee. Lets see what happens.. I mean,, if crap food and no added exercise made me look like this.. I can only imagined if I cleaned things up!

Back to some good read though. I deadlifted 225 no problem. No straps.. just chalk. About 4 months ago, I attempted this. I stood by the bar and couldn’t budge it. I strapped up, had a spot and maybe hit 3 reps. Just the other day, after about 6 reps of continuously adding weight, we threw on 225 just for shits and giggles. Chalked up and repped it out. Literally. It was nuts. So nuts, that I feel that I may have been spotted the whole time. She says all she did was bring my shoulders back but maybe that’s what it took to get it up?? So.. after were all recovered, I want to try it again.. no spot.. no bullshit. Until then… I spotted 225 😉

….and the best part of my last couple of weeks?

Just so happened to happen about 2 days ago. I was training a client that I have had ever since i made the switch to Waukegan. He was coming in 2 times a week in the morning with another trainer. That trainer changed his schedule and could no longer train him. I met with him, at which point he couldnt go up or down the stairs without holding on due to a bad motorcycle accident. As far as I was told, when he first started with the gym he was had a cane (previously in wheelchair for weeks). Weight loss had always been a goal, but we really needed to focus on reworking the muscles for basic human movements. starting from scratch, we needed to work on our foundation. Slowly but surely all the progress was really made on the scale. Eventually a couple of months in, he was super happy about going up and down the stairs no problem. He literally hustled! It was awesome. Another time he came in and asked to give me a hug. Later explained hunting was no longer painful, No longer took an ATV out, instead walks to where he sets up shop. But what was major BADASS (and I am so sorry I don’t have a video. You can check out Phitness Aesthetics on Facebook or my Instagram, Maristheshit), was when we took me to our little room and said he needed to show me something. I already knew I wanted to video tape it so you hear him saying I’m going to make fun of him! He first walks up and down on both legs over a few step ups. I’m super happy already but again you hear him say, but that isn’t even the best part. YOU SEE THE EXCITEMENT ON HIS FACE, as he attempts to BOX JUMP IT!!! AND HE DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A couple of times too!!!!!! It was so amazing. I showed it to my co worker who previously trained him and he said he had tears in his eyes, if not everyone who saw it. People were amazed and they didn’t even know it. Ugh! You have to see the video now.. I’ll try to upload it..

Meet Doug. He was one of my first clients when I made the move to Waukegan (6months ago). He could barely walk up the stairs without holding on to something (due to a bad motorcycle accident), so you could tell how much of an improvement since then by his excitement in the first part of the video. Little did I know, that wasn't even the half of it. He BOX JUMPED THAT SHIT!!!!!!! I was speechless. When it comes to #fitness, people assume it's all about #weightloss. Now, if done properly (and with a well balanced #nutrition), weight loss should occur… But sometimes our focus should be more on learning (or relearning) basic human movements and correcting any imbalances that may have occurred (during injury or constant bad form ext). A huge thanks to @phitness_aesthetics and the wide range of knowledge this team possesses.

@ Home Work Out!

Today was boring. Shoot.. there goes my whole point of trying to make this blog more interesting…

The man came over last night and brought me beef jerky. Remember how I said I was way off my macros for the day? 😉 We ended up just chilling for a bit while I peeled his back. LOL. He got super burnt when we went to Wisco and ended up peeling pretty bad. The weirdo that I am had fun for a few minutes. Afterwards we watched t.v and not too long after the boy got hungry. I really don’t have food to feed him because all I eat is like.. cottage cheese and shit so… that was a no go. He kept taunting me with Taco bell ( I have a weird obsession) but when I feel like I am doing really good in the gym, I don’t like back tracking by eating shitty. Well.. that is till I start eating then its like cloud 9 type shit. But regardless, I kept saying no. More so because I am one lazy maddafaker and didn’t want to get out of bed. Sooner or later I ended up feeling bad. Who wants to feel hungry? So I told him I would go but I wasn’t getting anything. We ended up going to Wendys and I got a diet coke and a baked potato with cheese and bacon. Lmao. Well.. if I was short 100g of carbs, I wasn’t any more.. No big deal. I didn’t feel bad nor guilty so it is what it is. We went to bed shortly after.

10:30am Woke up.
11:30am Got out of bed and ate a cup of grape nuts (again, weirdly addicted).
12:15pm Started getting ready for work. Took Marley for a walk and made a green smoothie.
This recipe (more so ingredients) is one of my favorites. All I put was a crap ton of spinach, water, 4 strawberries, a 1/2 of a lemon and blended. I think it’s because it has a sour kick to it that I just love.

1:15-2:15pm Got to work and trained a client. We did lower body and I had her do some jump squats as active rests (we only have a 30 min session), but she had to stop because she was getting dizzy. She had eaten before so that wasnt it. I didn’t think much of it (it’s a ballistic movement. anyone could get dizzy over those), but as we sat down to do some core she started talking about how she gets winded easily especially when her heart rate is elevated. I need to do some research and see what common factors could be the result of this.

2:30pm I had an hour before my next apt, which I thought was a lot longer. I planned to work out but for some reason I mistaken my schedule. No big deal. This week I am taking it easy. Adjusting to being overwhelmed and getting my head straight to really start giving it my all. I want to follow my macros that were given to me and see how it may change my body. I am just interested. Progress is always a fun thing to keep track of. All I know is that I have been 150lbs for a while now (I could care less really.. just wish I was a little leaner. 17% body fat is NOT for me), but I AM getting stronger* (I’ll explain this asterisk in another post).

So for my break I ended up walking to GNC. No, correction, I LUNGED to GNC. lmao. I am not kidding. No, not the entire way but I did over 100 lunges. In front of everyone, store fronts, traffic. I don’t care. I picked up some quest bars (GOOGLE THESE IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE. SIMPLY PUT, THEY ARE AMAZING). I am super excited to try their raspberry white chocolate that just came out, but went with my go to’s, brownie apple pie and 1 PB&J.

3:30pm I trained another client.
4-5:30pm I thought I had off so I went in my car to take a power nap. Little did I know that people get emails for their appointments so me not taking someone out of my schedule, they thought they had a session. I get a call from my boss and asked if I was in the gym. I came back in at 4:30 and trained her. She wasn’t mad or anything. She was confused though but so was I. We talked about skipping this weeks session. But no big deal. I trained her and sat back down to realize I had yet another cancellation at 5:30. So I just waited around.

6-7pm I had 2 more clients, followed by 2 more cancellations. Instead of working out (it’s a cluster fuck at this time), I just packed my stuff up and headed to the grocery store.

I picked up some fruit: bananas (post work out), strawberries and lemons (for green smoothie like mentioned above), and watermelon. I also picked up spinach, kale, greek yogurt, cottage cheese and some chicken. Just my basics I guess..

Afterwards I came home around 8:30 while my mom was making a pizza. It was one of my new favorites (something weird with goat cheese and if you know anything about me you should know that’s weird as hell that I would be eating something that had some weird cheese on it. But, it was amazing). I had a slice (feel guilty? nah, I only had 50g of carbs today ;P), then went up to my room for a mini work out.
I am not really a fan of working out at home. Don’t ask me why because I wouldn’t be able to tell you. I just like the gym atmosphere. However, I really wanted to do upper body since I have been neglecting my shoulders lately.

So, I came up with this:

8 rounds-

8 push ups
8 (each arm) shoulder presses (25lb)
8 kettle bell swings (25lbs)
8 lateral raises (10lbs)
8 burpees
8 bw squats (squeezing ass at the top)

I don’t know why I did 8. I really had no idea what I was even going to do.. but this here took me 46 minutes. Can you believe that? I stopped a few times but no more than a minute tops.

Total calorie burn: 343

Going to grab something to eat before I head to bed. It’s already 11pm and I just want to crash.

Day 40 FRIDAY’s Blog (WP is not being nice to me).

Day 40. phew… its been 40 days of no processed foods/fast food/anything other then WHOLE foods.. Isn’t that crazy??

&& I am almost 3 months free of smoking as well. YEAH buddy <– simple things in life bring me joy now 😉

930am Protein Shake. Probiotic Myofusion (again, tastes like shit), superblend (macs,hemp,something else can’t remember) and a little bit of coconut oil ice and coconut milk I think.. fuck.. SEE THIS IS WHY I WRITE DOWN AS I GO hahah whatever give or take 50 calories.

10am got to work.

130pm Leftover steak (6oz) and broccoli, a little late on eating today. From here and till 6pm I did have a Lara Bar though because my STOMACH WAS ON FIRE…. wtf is with these hunger pains??????????

6pm Left Work, headed to Whole Foods because I ran out of food and I really wanted chicken for this weekend. Spent $15 on 3 pieces of chicken.

6pm-845pm I was a bad girl. I didn’t eat 😦 I was having a heart to heart about everything and time just slipped away. Car ride home ate a cold chicken breast lol.

930pm  Arrived home.

1005pm Arrived at LA Fitness.

1006pm Realized LA Fitness closes at 10pm. Can’t miss a workout.. or if I did it would just be an excuse.. and its a friday.. and we already know I don’t have a life.. so…..

1015pm Drive to Xsport in Libertyville. Beginning of my little adventure my gas light goes on… Figured I can make it to work on an empty tank I can make it 20 min down the road.

1040pm Arrive at Xsport Fitness. Realize I do not have my debit card nor cash to pay the $10 to get into Xsport.
Call Ashley and ask her if she still works out at Xsport. Hang up.
Use her name to get in.

1201pm Made it safely and actually got home. Made 6oz ground turkey, 1/2 banana (WHAT ITS MY WEEKEND!!) :):):)
