A quick peek into my infamous ass workout :)

So.. since I am clearly obsessed with my own ass.. posting it everywhere in which it could be posted, I get a lot of attention… probably because for a white girl, it’s huge.

Well I’ll explain what I’ve done, and am currently doing..

When I train legs, I train them hard. I try to lift as heavy as I can, majority of the time.

My basic movements or lifts are:

Squats
Lunges
Deadlifts
Leg Ext
Leg Press
Plyometrics

I train legs twice a week: Quads, then glutes and hamstrings.

Both leg workouts  I do 5 sets of 20 weighted lunges.  Weight really depends on my mood, but ranges from 20-50lb DB’s (so technically 40lbs-100lbs).

 

**quick update.. I don’t do my basic “movements” in each workout I split one day into Quads, and another into Hamstrings (example, squats for quads, deadlifts for hamstrings). Lunges work both muscle groups therefore I love them.

My biggest trick though, outside of lifting heavy, is body weight squats……EVERYWHERE. I literally squat everywhere (I have been known to do walking lunges while I walk my dog..but this isn’t common).. what is is how much I squat. It is so easy to just knock out 20 reps before I go pee, after I go pee, in between sets, before I go to bed, everywhere.

Another HUGE and important staple to my workout regimen? I EAT.

Yup.. I FEED my muscles.

My post workout meal secret? Carbohydrates.

Moderate-to-high carbohydrate diets provide better energy levels, support muscle growth, prevent muscle break down, and promote faster recovery after training, all of which are vital when athletes are training for size and strength.

Carbohydrates in my current diet:

  • Brown Rice
  • Oatmeal
  • Whole Wheat Pastas/Breads
  • Sweet Potatoes

I don’t count or keep track of my macro-nutrients, been there done that. Frankly I become too obsessed with counting calories and weighing my food, so in turn I keep my foods clean.

I will do another post regarding the importance of carbohydrates (because it seems like I was before, that many people are “afraid” of carbs.. what you should be afraid of is sugar and processed foods), but just wanted to dip into it a little bit because it IS important. EAT YOUR CARBS PEOPLE!!

(Paleo) Spinach & Artichoke Recipe

So today is Monday. The day EVERYONE and their mothers promise their going to start the “healthy lifestyle”.. now I am in no way saying this is wrong.. (because I have a thing with starting on the beginning of the week too..).. just pointing out that it’s SUPER common.. Probably why everyone hates Mondays lol. But I love them. Monday marks a whole new week to be productive (my weekends consist of cooking and sleeping), and usually is my Leg Day =D
 
I see so many people giving up, rather giving IN to processed and sugar induced comas because of one excuse after the next.. but healthy doesn’t have to suck (and if it does that’s your own fault).. what I am saying is this lifestyle isn’t hard, but it’s sure as fuck not for everyone (some people don’t care, some people say fuck it after not seeing results after years worth of damage ect)… So do what you can, the littlest things DO and WILL matter.. Choose wheat over white, make your own burger at home, drink diet over regular.. something.. ANYTHING!! It will ALL make a difference, I promise you.
 
Now with that being said.. lets do this guys! Here is a great paleo recipe for the ever so loved Spinach and Artichoke Dip.. Instead of that bullshit you get when you eat out, enjoy it but without the guilt!

(HEALTHY!!) Spinach & Artichoke Dip

Prep time: 10 mins
Total time: 10 mins
Serves: 2-4
Ingredients
  • Version 1 (no cheese)
  • 2 (14oz) cans artichoke hearts (mine were in brine), chopped
  • 16oz frozen spinach
  • 1 cup cashews, roasted and unsalted
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Version 2 (with cheese)
  • all of the ingredients above
  • 2 ounces goat cheese at room temperature
Instructions
  1. Add frozen spinach and artichokes to large saucepan over medium heat and sprinkle with just a bit of salt.
  2. While your spinach thaws and artichokes warm up, pull out your handy dandy food processor.
  3. Place cashews in food processor and turn on. Grind until your cashews become a flour then begin to pour in your olive oil until you get a creamy consistency. Kind of like a super creamy cashew butter.
  4. Once your spinach is completely thawed and it’s all good and warm, drain the excess water from your saucepan and add spinach and artichoke to a large bowl.
  5. Add your creamy cashews and seasons to the bowl and mix thoroughly.
  6. Serve with sweet potato chips or veggies!

11am Ezekiel Bread (1 Slice) w/ 1TBS Peanut Butter.
1pm My homemade spaghetti and meat sauce (ground turkey).
330pm Chicken/Beef Kabobs w/ corn and broccoli.
630pm Pre Work Out- 1/2c Oatmeal w/ 1/2 scoop protein powder.
930pm Post Work Out- Protein Shake w/ Oatmeal and 1/2 banana.
11pm POSSIBLY a casein shake =D

The only thing I am sure of is my 100 weighted lunges. I do 5 sets of 20 lunges (weighing from 40lbs to 80lbs).
But I will for sure be squatting, dead lifting and using the Leg Ext (<– fave exercise) fersure.

Paleomg Blueberry Muffins!

Holy crap. I skipped a workout (now have to try to get a workout in the rest of the week.. I do do stupid shit though.. squats in the bathroom, lunges in the middle of the road while the boo and I waited for the cops to leave a house so we could get our car on 4th of July..true story.. but what I am saying is this shit adds up.. you don’t think so but it does*).. and decided that I though I didn’t want to be working out I wanted to do something that still makes me enjoy life just a little bit more. I have been putting all fave recipes in a book, printing out recipes but not making them. So that’s what I was gonna do, bake.

I made your blueberry muffins and I loved them. Although I don’t eat paleo* the ingredients are so simple that I don’t discriminate 😉 and you’ll be thankful I don’t. This are magical. Obviously they have flour and sugar (honey, which is something I wanted to tweak), but these compared to a store bought one its almost dumb to waste all those stairmaster minutes on shit you didn’t need but wanted. hmmph.

Simple Blueberry Muffins

Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 20 mins
Total time: 25 mins
Serves: 8-10
Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. If you’re good at baking, you’ll know to mix the dry then the wet ingredients then mix together, but I do all the ingredients together and it works out just fine.
  3. Place ingredients into 8-10 silicone muffin cups in a muffin tin. Or you can use muffin tin paper liners.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Just keep an eye on it, they will puff up and look adorable.
  5. Eat them and be happy. And merry.

Oh.. btw.. I have never cooked with honey and I wanted to mention something and then remembered something else about the honey.. it made the batter veryyyyyyyy sticky! Not joke that or I fucked up but they still tasted wonderful. I had to hand mix in the blueberries and was still having trouble.  so I made 6 kinda on the bigger side muffins because I only have a 12×12 pan or 6 muffin tin and this batter was ickkystickyy. I also want to try to sweeten it with a different kind of sugar.. organic cane.. blue agave syrup… trial and error 🙂

and I am a dumbass.

I was looking at the directions and read 8-10 .. literally were making these in a timely manner not reading further.. 15-20.. thank goodness I know to stick a fork inside to see how clean it comes out. These didnt after 8 min.. nor 10.. lol haha

..and after I go to get the link for the pictures I see a carrot cake muffin.. hmm.. and instead of the cream she uses (or maybe I will).. these are the ingredients for the carrot cake muffins..

  • For the frosting
  • 1.5 cups raw cashews (unsalted)
  • 5 tablespoons Coconut Cream Concentrate
  • 1/3 cup canned coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon Raw Honey
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Yum.

&& as it relate to my fitness life.. I am hanging in there… Not eating as much as I’d like and haven’t been doing enough cardio (on top of weight training) enough to feel “complete” lol. I am still a little soft in areas and have no doubt that will change with a little more plyometric based exercises and/or a little more time on my stairmastermister haaaa!

Day 92 – Tuesday 5/8 (Last week).

So it is Tuesday, May 8..

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH oddly the days aren’t flying by like I imagined. It seems like everything has been working out in the smallest ways, therefore making life a LITTLE less stressful.  Granted I just finished a 3 hour exam and have been getting up religiously for morning cardio. The only thing I would say that I am stressing about is losing my ass even more then I have, and getting my period (TMI but I kinda feel it coming. Oh but a little FYI this happened last show too haha).. The only thing that sucks about that is bloating.. and holding water.. this = DISASTER..

 

 

Any who.. at this point, it is what it is. My favorite quote, and something I say almost daily to myself. Its a reminder that we cannot change somethings and I do believe that everything happens for a reason (STRONG believer in this).  I am just going to take this as another thing to check off that I accomplished, something that I trained for for months, something I worked damn hard at (and sometimes not so much HAHA)..  This has been a learning experience for me. As most of you may already know I have struggled with body image for quite some time now. I use to follow what everyone else was doing, and doing shit to my body that I would be ashamed of now. I did whatever I could to look good outside, so I could feel good inside. Little did I know, that was the entire battle. A pointless one. One I wouldn’t win unless I stopped fighting AGAINST the one person I was trying to love all along, myself.  I have eaten next to nothing for days, I have also binged more then one would admit too, I have taken numerous amounts of diet pills, yes I have done a lot in the 23 years I have been living. But growing up hating yourself is a full time job and I am sick of it. It makes me feel uncomfortable, ugly, useless, worthless, and then I turn mean. More so because I am sad inside, but because I am upset with myself. I feel like I failed. How can food be controlling my every move?

Because I allowed it.

No more guys. I sit here with my belly rumbling and 1/2 gallon water sitting next to me. These are different conditions. I am on the last week of my 3 month training regimen, about to walk the stage in 6 inch heels and a bikini in front of hundreds of people, and 4 judges about to critique MY BODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No this isn’t for everyone. Trust me.

It is more mentally challenging then it is physically. The first one I trained for I was shocked. The changes your body goes through and how your brain tries to follow along just gets demanding and you’re left confused. You have to have a happy place and I hope that happy place isn’t balls deep in a bag of Doritos. I don’t believe this was a good decision (regarding competing) in each of my situations only because I wasn’t healthy. I wasn’t ready mentally or emotionally but I did it because in my mind I needed a “goal”. I needed a time limit so I couldn’t make excuses (how’d that work out for me..). But now after this (which surprisingly I have the best attitude towards it then I ever have), I feel so much stronger. Yes I can lift a lot but I mean inside. I feel like I finally have control. Food is fuel = energy. Use it as such. Yes there is a lot of tasty foods out there and yes I think everything is okay in moderation, but why have copious amounts of fat on your body at all times?

Nothing good comes out of it.. PROVE ME WRONG I DARE YOU!

and if you tell me you don’t give a shit and you just want to enjoy food because it tastes good, fine but I can ONLY imagine what you think when you see yourself naked. Honestly.

Other then that, I don’t really need anything else. Everything will just happen as each day passes.. Like tomorrow might be the only day where I don’t have an appointment somewhere.. I just have my final project due for my nutrition class.. But Thursday I have a late nail appointment and that’s when I will be checking into the hotel.. Only a couple more workouts and then Friday after my tan I will just chill all day probably flexing.

Day 62 Bikini Challenge

So fuck it. I was going to do this blog solely on my bikini choices.. But I think I am just going to go with this one, except the diamonds will be a black chain..

I really wanted pink.. Then I really wanted blue.. UGH…… fuck it.. I need to order this asap.

Update. I fucking just spent two hours with my home dawn going over bikinis. Remember when I posted before, LONNNNGGGGGGGG AGOOOOOOO, it was Jennifer Stano’s bikini and it was oh so sexy. well, I had recently seen her website fell in love with her then randomly found her on instagram one day. I commented on something regarding the bikini lol and she told me it wasn’t being produced at the moment.

So any who after she requested to follow me (I was on private, but YAY!!), I stalked her pictures and she has probably one of the best styles I have ever come across. Any who… I really wanted this bikini and was super stressing. So we decided to do a little spin off (I was going to do the same style but suitsyouswimwear doesn’t have a thick black chain) and give her credit in some way (inspired by..Jennifer blah you get it).. but we changed a thing or two.. (still give MAJOR credit to her and still will) but heres a pic to understand a little bit..

Pretty much the only thing that is really different is I am going to have a gold chain instead of black 😦 I really wanted black.. but the chain is a tad different. We were originally going to do the navy blue with the gold, then I went back to the coral then got super stressed… any who. I got it under control. I still have to wait to take my measurements (and def paying extra in shipping as a cause of me being the procrastinator of the year).. But just so every can see what I am dealing with.. these are the two colors. It is pretty much Jennifers cut of bikini, with the chain, but either the gold chain (because I don’t have the black in that cut), with the coral or the navy blue. Just picture it please. lol.

  1. Finally tried my muscle egg..okay had my mother try it first but it was pretty good and super convenient.
  2. Also had an artichoke (with olive oil and garlic dipping sauce) thanks to Jenna Marbles
  3. Post Work Out (legs) Killed it. Second to last chipotle meal for a month.
  4. Take home exam.
  5. Lmfao. Ill post this recipe, but I believe this picture was before, not after (not like it would of mattered) but you should see them now. They did NOT turn out and I have no idea why. I followed everything except adding the vanilla. So I put them in a container. They hardened up a bit and I tried them again and OMG. They taste awesome. Its pretty much just almonds and cocoa powder haha so not THAT bad for you, but I am addicted. I don’t know what I did wrong but I hope to do it again. This time I think I will just cook it like brownies (and not shape them like cookies because they didn’t even hold together).
  6. So since that was a failure, I tried to do black bean brownies.
  7. But they taste like ass. No joke. They said to add 2 WHOLE BANANAS!!! ( I only added 1 and 1/2 and you can SMELL THE BANANAS IN THEM!!!!!!!) ugh lol.. but I got high and came home (and since its the weekend/cheat meal I didn’t care) cut a slice and cut up a strawberry and warmed it all up and it was awesome. lol. but not cold. cold they taste like shit.
  8. I made this for a meal (but 2 steaks) ate one, my mom ate 1/2 and I ate the other 1/2 when I came home. I literally had a buffet in front of me.
  9. What my fridge/freezer looks like (only bc I keep throwing shit away and my mom hasn’t noticed yet).

So today was a good day. Went to the gym, had a nice leg work out. Enjoyed lunch by myself to clear my head before my take home exam. Did that, graded it and without the 3 written questions I got like 4 wrong. Ol well. Baked a little, did some laundry. Was going to do another set of cardio but I was running out of time (excuses) and I simply didn’t want to. I gave myself the weekend to take a few deep breaths in order to start Monday off with a bang. Monday is going to be super long. Will get more into that tomorrow (Sunday, yes I know you are reading this on sunday.. Remember blogs will always be a day off lol)… but yeah chilled, mike came over and helped me with my bikini deciding. Still don’t know if I am going to keep that color but I think it’ll be good.. Fuck. Now that I am writing about it I am thinking about it more.. O m g. Should I do the coral color or the blue color with the gold chains????

So look at the bikini up top (in the coral/pink color on JS) and picture it with gold chains. Yes,? No?

Now picture that bikini in this royal blue, with the GOLD chains.. yes? no? but look how cute royal blue and gold look……

Day 59 in Pictures..

  1. Woke up to my Sperrys at my door! Super excited and Zappos was AWESOME! (Actually stopped mid ship bc I knew the size I ordered wasn’t going to fit and they were so easy and helpful to deal with!! ).
  2. My Banana. lol.
  3. My meals while at work. Mostly Chicken, Broccoli, and Corn, and some onion. 
  4. PYAOB Sent me some clothing. That was nice of them ;););)
  5. Then I went on a shopping spree….. $18 to try a new PB… Its chocolate almond butter, with 1g net carb, and 14 grams of protein :):)
  6. Then I had to buy lululemon pants. omg. 
  7. Came home, had a pre work out shake 🙂
  8. Play with Marley for a little. She is turning 2 in a week!!
  9. SWEATTTTING like a pig today… eek!
  10. Chipotle. Nuff’ said. 
  11. A little pit stop && NO those wheat thins are NOT for me (so much shit in them), and I got a sweet lunch box for $7.50… I KNOW this will come in handy 🙂
Work has been going great, and my mood has defiantly changed (for the better :). I am consistenly staying on track with eating and working out. School has been a little challenging this week but no big deal, Ill hang in there. I think give or take I am about 5 lbs shy of my goal weight.. Doesn’t seem like much, but it is when you are already working out an hour plus everyday lol. Still need to register and get on my suit finding business. Also need to start studying for my test this weekend (even though I probably won’t because its a take home test.. ugh).. and need to keep my head in the game. LOL so about the kid that hit on me.. I was just WAY to tired to post it yesterdayy (had a SUPER long day).. but it goes a little like this..
 
I was working out on a  back machine, when I randomly met eyes with the dude in front of me.. I didn’t think anything of it and kept doing my thing.. well I ended up on the stair master, which is before the entrance to the locker rooms. I saw him go in, and then he came out. Second guessed himself and then came my way, “I don’t want to come off as crazy, because I’ve been told Im crazy before, but we met eyes and I heard music..” LMFAO. I laughed so hard.. it was cute.. so I gave him my number. I’m not use to saying no to people.. however it’s starting to get a little ridiculous at the gym lately.. I just had a worker of LA Fitness (TODAY) literally stop me mid work out today to try and talk to me as my hand is literally inches away from my ear because I want to put my headphones back in and finish a set… I think he finally caught on.. FUCK… Not to mention.. when I found the note on my car.. or when another employee got my number from when he asked me to write my information down (I was SEMI interested in a PT job, I have been asked a total of 4 times by different people that I should work at LA) <– and fuck that I never will (sucky pay, no clients ext). How disrespectful.. Not kidding, I understand how guys are but this is getting a tad bit out of hand… :/
Wow I published that without realizing that it didn’t save.. no big deal.. that was pretty much the end of my rant anyways.. I’ll leave you with a little motivation ..

Day 42 I’m strong because I know what its like to be weak.

10am Got up laid around with Marley for a little bit…. Didn’t eat till about noon.

1230ish Made steak and eggs but gave Marley most of the eggs.. I didn’t care for them at much.. Had a few slices of pineapple as well.

Decided that I could NOT go to the gym until my blog was finished lol. But WordPress is being pretty gay.. said my post was published when people were already commenting on it… and the pictures were suddenly not there any more 😦 so now I feel all fucked up.

Doing Hamstrings/ Glutes today 🙂

120pm Stomach is fucking hurting again. No flax no nothing.. I think it may of been the pineapple.. what the fuck. :(:( not good.

OHHHHHH and forgot! Made tofu brownies last night.. they weren’t bad at all but I really want to make the black bean brownies now.. I have a feeling they might be a WHOLE lot better 🙂

I don’t know where I got this recipe from.. probably from CCK.. but I don’t really know… :/

(Makes 8 brownies)

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup ww pastry flour (or white, or you can try spelt or gluten-free)
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sweetener (see link, below, for lower-sugar version)
  • 1.5 oz  soft tofu or mori-nu firm or lite firm (about 1/8 box)
  • 1/3 cup applesauce (use only 1/4 cup if using 3T oil)
  • 1 to 3 T oil (I use coconut oil. Canola is ok too.)
  • 2 T non-dairy milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • optional: you can throw in some chocolate chips

Combine dry ingredients, and mix very well. In a blender, combine wet ingredients and blend until smooth. (I use a Magic Bullet cup.) Pour wet over dry and stir, then pour into a 4×6 oiled pan (or double the recipe and use an 8×8). Cook for 12-18 minutes at 325 F. I’m not sure why this is the case, but these brownies seem to taste ten times sweeter if you don’t eat them for at least an hour after they come out of the oven!

My fudgey variation: (Highly recommended!) If you want them extremely fudgey– as in “so gooey you need a fork to eat them”—cook the batter for only 8-10 minutes. Then put the pan in the fridge to cool for at least a few hours.

Just chillen now.. Really have to study for a test I have Wednesday and need to check what room my new class is because it starts tomorrow :):)

Laundry, and cleaning room. Not to mention my sister left to go back to MN for school last night :/ and we took a cute pic last night 🙂

Suppose to go to see a movie tonight.. but who knows.. I don’t mind staying in I really do want to study its only on chapter 14 and I actually enjoyed that chapter..AND THIS IS THE SECOND FREAKIN TIME IM TAKING PSYCH.

WHY DO ALL THE TEACHERS STINK THAT TEACH PSYCH??? Seriously.. out of ALLLLL fucking people my professor is a sexiest. no THE sexiest.. but against women sexiest and sometimes its ruthless. I literally shake my head sometimes when I sit in that class.. I am just trying to take it week by week with him.. too late to switch and I don’t think I would of anyways.. no big deal…. unless it gets really out of hand then Ill say something but so far its just annoying and I am not the only one whose noticed it… which isn’t good for him but whatever.

6pm– Tried to write my paper. I, right now, have 3 drafts. fml.

830pm-130am I left to go to a movie and didn’t get back till late. Only had a diet coke and some almonds on my way back home.

130-230am Had a tofu brownie and almond butter. Then a handful of flax cookies. lol.

3am Finally fell asleep.
